Fostering Futures Registration

Interactive Training designed to help Volunteers advocate for their older youth!

Fostering Futures was developed by National CASA to help better prepare volunteers to advocate for youth who come to the point where they will age out of the system at 21. Many youth have a difficult time with this abrupt transition from youth to adult, as is evidenced by the number of former foster youth who do not have a high school diploma or GED, who do not go to college, who are unemployed, and who are arrested or become homeless. The training involves discussing the importance of helping youth to be prepared to age out, provides resources to use in working with aging out youth, an opportunity to role play working with older youth and, maybe most importantly, an opportunity to talk with other CASAs about the challenges of working with youth who are facing aging out. If your youth is between the ages of 14 and 21 (as more than 50% of our youth are),we would encourage you to come to the training to learn and to interact with volunteers whose youth are facing similar challenges.
