Information Session

In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, CASA of Baltimore County will hold information sessions around Baltimore County for community members who are interested in learning more about becoming a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for a child in foster care. The information sessions will explain the CASA program, the role of the CASA volunteer, and the importance of becoming a CASA volunteer to advocate for an abused or neglected child. The sessions will be held on the following dates:

Tuesday, April 26, from 6:00- 7:15 p.m., at the Liberty Church (in Sanctuary), 11301 Liberty Rd., Owings Mills, MD

Wednesday, April 27 from 6:00 -7:15 p.m., at the Essex Library Meeting Room, 1110 Eastern Blvd., Essex, MD

Thursday, April 28 from 6:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m., at the Towson CASA Office, 305 W. Chesapeake Ave., Ste. 117, Towson, MD

CASA of Baltimore County is seeking members of the community who are age 21 or older to serve as advocates for foster youth in Baltimore County. No special experience is needed to become a CASA volunteer. After applying, the prospective volunteer will undergo screening and extensive training before being appointed by the court to a child’s case. About CASA of Baltimore County

Founded in 2000, CASA of Baltimore County serves abused and neglected children by representing their voices in the Baltimore County court system and advocating for their best interests in the judicial, educational, medical and social service communities. The non-profit recruits, trains and supervises CASAs to provide written, objective recommendations to the Court; to serve as a consistent adult presence, and to monitor that child’s well-being. As advocates, the volunteers ensure that their assigned child’s best interests are heard and understood by the Court.
