Hello everyone! CASA of Baltimore County is very excited to partner with the One Love Foundation (www.joinonelove.org) and provide a much needed in-service/discussion about healthy relationships. This special training is for our CASA Volunteers WITH their CASA kids ages 16 and older. We have a limit of 15 Volunteers with 15 adolescents so please RSVP and make sure your CASA teen is able to attend before RSVPing. The training will take place Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:30, and dinner will be provided. St. Paul’s School for Boys has graciously offered to allow us to use their facilities for this training; we will be in Fisher Hall. See below for more important details and information regarding this training. Thank you!

One Love was founded in 2010 after Yeardley Love, a senior at the University of Virginia, was killed by her ex-boyfriend a few weeks before her graduation. We are dedicated to ending relationship abuse by educating, empowering, and activating young people in a movement for change. The Escalation Workshop is the catalyst for this movement — it is 90 minutes long and consists of a 40 minute film followed by a guided discussion geared towards helping students understand the warning signs of abuse, while also promoting healthy relationships. The workshop is being rolled out at schools across the nation – almost 400 college campuses and about 150 high schools have participated in Escalation to date, and the number is growing every day. We train both students and/or faculty facilitators on campus to lead the small group discussions after the film.

Yeardley Love grew up in Baltimore and attended Notre Dame Prep. Thanks to a generous grant from the Baltimore Ravens, the One Love foundation is working to bring this workshop and movement to every high school and college across Maryland.

If your CASA child does not fall into the age range for this particular training but you are interested in the subject matter, Maryland CASA is offering a webinar entitled “Engage, Inspire, Prevent: Connecting with Teens on Relationship Violence” on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Look for a link soon to sign up for this webinar!
