CASA During COVID-19

COVID-19 has hit our community hard, but CASA Volunteers and Staff continue to support the foster youth of Baltimore County, and for that we are extremely grateful. Here are some examples of the ways that CASA continues to make a difference during these times:

Volunteers are connecting with their assigned children by phone, video calls, texting, letter-writing, and more

Volunteers have increased their frequency of communication with their children, social workers, and other providers, to stay aware of changing circumstances and to help the children feel less isolated

We continue to submit reports to the Court to update the Court and the parties on the case circumstances, despite the fact that review hearings have been postponed indefinitely at this point

Volunteers participate in virtual meetings with providers, social workers, and foster parents to ensure the children and families are getting the supports they need at this time

CASA staff is mailing gift cards and making deliveries to youth and families who are low on food/supplies

CASA staff is soliciting donations of computers and laptops (and/or funds for these) for older youth to have for school and job searches, or for younger children to have for therapy provision

Ways to Help

We have had many requests from generous community members wanting to know how they can get involved and help our youth and families during this time of crisis. Below are some ways you can make a difference:

Make/donate masks - Our children and families do not always have the resources to obtain basic protective items, such as masks. As the County begins to open up, we will help provide them to those who need it. In addition, our volunteers and children will need them to attend court hearings as they return to in-person events.

Provide a Produce Box - For $20, you can provide an older youth living independently, a family caring for a young relative, or a recently aged-out youth trying to make ends meet with a box of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, and eggs. Simply make your donation at and use the note #casa to ensure delivery to one of our children.

Become a CASA! - Pandemic or no, our mission continues! We are currently accepting applicants for our Summer and Fall training classes. For more information, please inquire at

Thank you to our Volunteers!

The safety and health of our volunteers and our youth are of the utmost importance; please see the pages to the left and the updates below to find information specific to the impact of COVID-19 on our work as well as resources and great tips to remain in contact with your youth.  We thank you for all that you do and we hope that you and your families remain safe and healthy.
