Youth involved with multiple systems of care typically have histories of maltreatment and trauma; experience educational challenges; are more likely to face disparate treatment on the basis of race, gender, and sexual identity; have high levels of exposure to community and family violence; and suffer from untreated behavioral health issues. Youth serving agencies and organizations in Baltimore County have continued to work collaboratively to enhance the Crossover Youth Practice Model to improve how the system supports youth who crossover between child welfare and juvenile justice. This training will provide an overview of the new protocol that outlines collaborative case management processes for a youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Services who subsequently becomes involved with the Department of Social Services.
